Before Direct Cremation OC existed, our founder spent years working inside the traditional funeral industry. He learned the business from the inside — the operations, the regulations, the paperwork, the relationships with hospitals and counties and crematories.
He also learned something else: that the industry, as it was structured, wasn't built around the families it served. It was built around upsells. Around captive moments. Around the assumption that grief makes people easy to sell to.
So in 2020, he left and built something different. Not a funeral home with a cremation option — a cremation service built from scratch around what families actually need: transparency, simplicity, and someone who picks up the phone.
